U2 Rooftop Gig
|
U2 surprised Regent Street (and the rest of London) on Friday 27 February 2009, with an impromtu gig on the top of the BBC Broadcasting House.
Attracting over 5000 fans, U2 played their latest single 'Get On Your Boots' and 'Magnificent', a new album track which one fan lucky enough to be in the select audience dubbed "their best track to date", according to NME.com.
Old favourites such as number one singles 'Beautiful Day' and 'Vertigo' also were also included in the set, as was the band's version of The Beatles' 'She Loves You', prompting those who could remember to think back to the fab four's own rooftop gig in 1969.
NME.com quoted frontman Bono as saying:
"This is the first time this band has got to play our new songs for anyone so thanks for listening."
Any other hot bands wishing to drop by Regent Street... we're all ears.
