Who's Cooking Dinner?

March 8 2010 saw The Langham Hotel play host to a 'one-of-a-kind' event - with the annual 'Who's Cooking Dinner?' serving up here.

Every year, on a Monday night in March, twenty of the countries most talented chefs come together to cook dinner for 200 guests. With each chef assigned their own table, diners are unaware who will be cooking for them, and what exactly they'll be cooking - hence the title... 'Who's Cooking Dinner?'.

This year, over £429,000 was raised for Leukaemia in support of The Catherine Lewis Centre at Hammersmith Hospital - the very same hospital in which Chris Corbin of The Wolseley received his treatment for leukaemia.

Twenty tables at £6,000 each were matched with the twenty chefs on the night, each offering their services for free, as did The Langham Hotel, offering both its ballroom and the kitchen facilities.

Chefs included Mark Hix, Tom Aikens, Giorgio Locatelli, Angela Hartnett (Murano), Helen Dorroze (The Connaught) and the Regent Street Food Quarter's very own Richard Corrigan from Bentley’s in Swallow Street.

Celebrities in attendance came in the form of Cilla Black,
Jeremy Clarkson,
Stuart Rose
Julian Rhind Tutt, Catherine Tate, Nigella Lawson and John Swannell.

Chris Corbin, co-owner of The Wolseley, said of the event;

“A unique and spectacular evening exceeding all our expectations in both it’s quality of dining experience and funds raised for Leukaemia. All due to the selfless commitment of everyone involved. As a representative evening of what London has to offer from the restaurant world this is the pinnacle.”
