With its stunning architecture, delicious restaurants, not to mention expert jewellers, Regent Street has long been regarded as something of a romantic hot spot.

On September 4 2008 however, Sam Ornbo took things to a new level, with a marriage proposal to girlfriend of five years Annuska Nowak emblazoned across the Piccadilly Lights.

Sam told Metro newspaper:

"We went for a drink beforehand and she didn't know what we were doing... At about 7:25pm I took her outside and told her there was going to be an amazing light show on the Piccadilly Lights. She didn't think anything of it - she thought we were going to watch Mamma Mia afterwards."

Coming up with the idea last June after filming with TV company Endemol (for whom the couple both work) at the iconic location, Sam got in touch with Land Securities who own the lights. Never before used for a proposal message, the company were so taken with the idea they placed the message free of charge, fully embracing the spirit of the occasion!

Regent Street Romance... well, it most definitely has a certain 'ring' to it...
