The Spirit of Christmas Present

The spirit of Christmas was well and truly alive on Regent Street on the eve of November 20, as Londoners united to light up the festive season.

Traditionally, the Regent Street lights have been a celebrity affair, with Will Young, Busted and members of the Royal Family among those to have had the honour of flicking the famous switch in the past. This year however, the lights were heralded as unique.

Powered by Nokia in honour of the new store, coming soon to Regent Street, this year's lights are responsive to the activity around them, the weather and the population density of the people below. This year, spectators were encouraged to gather at opposite ends of the street, walking together to meet in the middle, where they were treated to a spectacular light display, set to beautiful music echoing through the crowds.

Following the unveiling of the new look Regent Street Christmas, many of those gathered were obviously impressed, to say the least. A departure from the advertising related decorations that are normally used for such occasions, this year Regent Street has returned to what Christmas is all about. With these festive decorations, Regent Street is representing what the street itself is all about, the style, quality, success and heritage that are extremely important to Regent Street.

With the Christmas lights 2007, class is one other word, that instantly comes to mind.

Pop to Regent Street any night and take a look at the London lights that everyone will be talking about.

Visitors to Regent Street are now able to directly control the lights. Interact with touch sensitive pads in the window of Nokia's flagship store coming soon to Regent Street.

Watch the lights react to your touch!
