The clocks have turned back an hour and the days are noticeably dimming, but this is quite apt to be honest, as fashion this autumn/winter is decidedly darker too.
This season, you don’t have to restrict your dark, sexy side to the night of Halloween. With lace a major trend for the season ahead, the possibilities are endless when it comes to bringing out your inner dark, gothic style queen diva.
In fact, the combination of black lace and prim Victorian styles means that you can look chic and sexy at the same time, rather reminiscent of Parisian style... always a winning look.
Think film noir as you don the Elizabeth Taylor-esque black and white lace dress from Karen Millen, teaming with dark red lipstick for that perfect femme fatale look.
For the more innocent among you, keep it cheeky with a sheer blouse from Oasis, remembering to pop a cami underneath in order to spare your blushes. Victorian gothic elegance is the order of the day at Jaeger, whilst the more modern day goth may prefer the lace leggings from Topshop...
Accessories are in fact an ideal way to go, if you want to take the lace/gothic plunge but aren't quite sure yet if the 'look' is really 'you'. Luckily, Topshop don't stop at the lace leggings, with a lace buckle belt or a funky pair of elbow length gloves both fabulous options worth considering, as is the crochet tassled scarf from Accessorize.
A unique pair of dark shoes can also help to gothically enhance an outfit, with the baltimore shoe boots from Kurt Geiger strikingly sexy with intricate detailed pattern, laces and stilletoe heel. Alternately, a pair of knee high boots from Russell & Bromley, complete with tassle detail, are perfectly in keeping with the desired effect.
Finish off the look with a black ribbon pendant from Mappin & Webb, a chunky ring or dazzling gem bracelet from Oasis, all wrapped up in a lace jewellery wrap from Accessorize.
On second thoughts however, a simple silver cross may be a little more appropriate...
