June 19 2010 saw the London Girl Geek Dinners networking group visit Regent Street, by exclusive invitation, to experience a shopping treasure hunt.
Each girl had the opportunity to sign up for the limited edition places via regentstreetonline by submitting their e-mail address and being a member of 'London Girl Geek Dinners'.
The girls were contacted and invited to attend, kicking off with registration at the Swarovski Crystallized Lounge from 10am on the Saturday morning.
The Swarovski Crystallized lounge became base camp for the day, a place where the girls could charge their smart phones, use the internet, take refreshments and 'tweet' and 'blog' on the exciting events of the day.
The Girl Geeks were given their Regent Street Girl Geek welcome pack, a cotton branded Regent Street Girl Geek shoulder bag with a Regent Street VIP Privilege Shopping Card and Regent Street Guide.
Each card had individual QR Codes* for all the shops that took part. Using their smart phones through the latest geolocation and geotagging technologies, their tweets were displayed in real-time on a map on Regent Street. A group was set up on the photo sharing site flickr to allow the girls to upload & share their memories of the day.
First activity of the day was a half hour talk at Apple by Jess Greenwood, Deputy Editor of Contagious Magazine and Vikki Chowney from Reputation Online.
The Girls then hit Regent Street picking up REN cosmetics from Liberty, USB sticks from Swarovski Crystallized, an initialled mug from Anthropologie, perfume library from Penhaligon’s and cufflinks from Hawes and Curtis - where they were also offered 20% discount on purchases on the day.
And it didn't stop there, with nail polish from The Beauty Lounge, hand massage and chocolate from The Organic Pharmacy, a cocktail at National Geographic cafe, a limited edition Mini Crazee Rainbow Cube from Hamleys, lunch at tibits Heddon Street, a laptop bag from BOSE slong with a mouse and mouse mat, ice cream from Freggo and chocolate from Godiva along with a complimentary “Geek Chic” cocktail at the Soho Sky Terrace at Courthouse Hotel - much needed after a full day of shopping!
On their travels the girls looked for special codes which their smart phones recognised, bringing them back to base camp to redeem their prize of A Mile of Style book.
At 4pm the girls uploaded their pictures to regentstreetonline for the chance to win an afternoon tea at The Langham, London.
The Girls tweeted and blogged all day about what an amazing day they had on Regent Street, the end of which culminated in a champagne reception and presentation at the Swarovski Crystallized base camp, where the Girl Geeks were shown a brief 4 minute film - a snapshot of their day.
The Regent Street BOSE shop manager picked the winner from the BOSE prize draw and one of the lucky girls won a BOSE SoundDock Portable digital music system to take home.
The Girl Geeks loved their treasure hunt on Regent Street and said they would be back shopping at the first opportunity to be Girly, as well as Geeky.
