Exciting times are ahead for Jaeger. Not only is the stunning new collection about to hit the Regent Street store, but a collaboration with the V&A is set to be a stand out feature of the autumn/winter season.
6 November 2009 will see the prestigious Victoria & Albert Museum present a showcase of the talent of the Regent Street brand.
Women’s Tailoring: Genesis and Evolution will provide the audience with an insight into the brand’s history, their design process, unravelling the secrets behind how the label has managed to take the tradition of tailoring to today’s generation of ‘fashion savvy women’.
Firstly, Jaeger, celebrating their 125th birthday this year, will outline the fashion house’s evolution over the past 125 years. Set to showcase historical archive images and garments – some of which will date back to the inception of the brand – the exhibition will give rare insight into the heritage of design, fitting and styling, charting the dynamic three month cycle from design to production.
One of three designers included in the exhibition, Jaeger are in fine company. Also set to feature is Carol Alayne of Tailoring for Women, one of the few female tailors on Saville Row. Finally, young designer Sairah Hick’s label, Evie Belle, is set to demonstrate the influence and perspective on tailoring of the young, modern brand.
Harold Tillman, Chairman of the British Council and Jaeger and a student of Fashion Tailoring at the London College of Fashion in 1963, said of the exhibition:
“Tailoring is having a strong renaissance and there is an ever growing interest in the craft. The V&A’s event on the genesis and evolution of women’s tailoring will provide a rare and well-rounded insight into this esteemed British tradition”.
