Lessons at Liberty

By the time October arrives, the change in the seasons is more than apparent. Mornings are depressingly darker, evenings annoyingly shorter, and we have to overhaul our wardrobes, and our make up to accommodate such changes.

Ok, admittedly the latter 'problem' is rather enjoyable. What could be better than explaining to our bank manager that the new pair of Vivienne Westwood boots was in fact a practical necessity for the winter ahead? As long as we keep the somewhat impractical heel well hidden...

As for hair and make up, there is something rather refreshing about overhauling our 'look'. Often in the autumn season blondes become brunette, and with regards to our make up, the change is no less discreet. In the icy air, most of our complexions benefit from warmer shades. But shades of what exactly? What will those with the cosmetic insider knowledge be working this year, and where is the best place to buy?

Now the answer too the last question is easy enough - Liberty. With a vast display of make up magic on offer on the ground floor, you simply can't go wrong with a trip to the capital's oldest department store. Once you have purchased however, what next? You may look like a Goddess as you leave the store, but translating that expert in store technique back to your bathroom pre Saturday night can be tricky.

If this sounds like you, then pop into Liberty this weekend for tips and techniques from Chris Simpson, National Artist for Laura Mercier. In store all day on the 11 and 12 October, Chris will be happy to demonstrate how to achieve the latest looks and styles, and how to achieve that flawless finish.

Following your personal consultation, feel free to work that credit card on all the autumn essentials. Your bank manager will probably be doing it too...

Not to be missed, appointments can be made by calling 020 7734 1234.
