2018 is set to be another exciting, fun-filled year on Regent Street, jam-packed with better events than ever before. Feast your eyes on what’s on the cards for the year ahead.
18th – 21st of January
Promising to brighten up January and banish the post-Christmas blues, Lumiere returns to the West End from 18th January 2018. Completely free to attend, the four day festival will once again transform areas around London with various awe-inspiring light installations created by both renowned and up and coming international artists. Originating in Durham, Lumiere travelled to London for the first time in January 2016. Produced by leadings arts charity Artichoke, Lumiere brings to life artwork made using the medium of light and is set to explore the city’s most iconic buildings, landscape and architecture. Lumiere provides a canvas for artists from across the UK, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and Canada amongst others, to showcase their stunning and unique work. Taking place from 18th – 21st January, you’re invited to watch Regent Street be reimagined into a shining spectacular as the highly celebrated Lumiere returns.

Chinese New Year
In a nod to New Year traditions in China, Regent Street will become home to beautiful Bonsai trees and traditional Chinese lanterns ornately decorated in homage to this age-old Asian celebration. The locations are top secret, so come back in January to find out where you can discover these beautiful installations.
The Regent Street RIBA Windows competition will return for its 8th year, which will see some of Regent Street’s leading retailers, including Jo Malone, L’Occitane and lululemon partnering with emerging and established RIBA Chartered Architects to create a series of unique shop windows on Regent Street.
The architects and retailers are now working together to create this year’s window displays which will be unveiled on Monday 23rd April. The window installations will remain on and around London’s historic Regent Street for the public to enjoy until Sunday 20th May.
2017 was the fifth year of our annual ‘Summer Streets’ celebration, where every Sunday Regent Street became traffic free haven for a day of themed activities and experiences for its shoppers. Each weekend showcased an eclectic selection of talks, pop-ups, shows and offers from our world class shops and eateries. Feast your eyes on these highlights from last year to give you an inkling of what will be on offer for summer 2018.

Fashion & Design Month
Throughout September we are set to celebrate all things creative in a nod to two of London’s most esteemed events of the year, London Design Festival and London Fashion Week. Regent Street will be offering a feast of fashion and design-led, interactive experiences for visitors, catering to even the most culturally hungry amongst us. Judging from what 2017 had on offer, including sunset photography, lifestyle drawing and embroidery plus talks and seminars from leaders in the fashion and design industry, there’ll be plenty for visitors to get their teeth into.
Christmas Lights Switch-On
Unquestionably one of London’s biggest events of the year, the turning on of Regent’s Street ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ scheme is an absolute must for everyone’s diaries. Regent Street was the first to introduce Christmas Lights to the West End in 1954, signaling the start of the Festive Season annually ever since. Christmas would not be complete without this famed event, to which we encourage all to visit and witness the beauty of the curated displays - guaranteeing a fun-filled, festive treat for all. Keep your eyes peeled for when the date will be announced.

The Regent Street Motor Show 2018
To the joy of car-lovers far and wide the annual Regent Street Motor Show will return to the Street once again, showcasing over 125 years of motoring from past, present and future. Regent Street will become a family friendly, traffic-free thoroughfare to host the UK’s largest free-to-view motor show. In keeping with the spirit of the event, many of the drivers and passengers will dress in period costume, reflecting the fashions of a bygone era; garments that may well have been sold on our very street at the end of the nineteenth century. There’ll be something for everyone with lots of things to see and do, including interactive displays and entertainment throughout the day from 10.30am until 4pm. Best of all, it’s all completely free so don’t miss out!
