This November we welcome Tatiana Hambro, Deputy Retail Editor at British Vogue, as our very first Guest Editor.
Regent Street now feels like an old friend. I pound its pavement every day on my commute to Vogue House and, over the years, have become very well acquainted with London’s first shopping street. As the office backyard, it’s always been first port of call for emergency buys and last minute pick-me-ups (especially during Christmas shopping panic) but more recently the lure of good food and great cocktails has tempted me down to Piccadilly.
We first got to know each other, Regent Street and I, during the H&M designer collaborations. When I first started on Vogue, the magazine held an exclusive shopping preview event for our readers and staff to launch the new collections (Marni, Isabel Marant and Maison Martin Margiela) and I was tasked with organising the guest list. A few years later, we revived Fashion’s Night Out under the new tag ‘Vogue Loves’ and Regent Street was our chosen destination. The combination of great fashion and beauty — from luxury powerhouses such as Burberry to high street favourites like & Other Stories — makes it a unique shopping destination. And, of course, it’s home to the glorious department store Liberty, purveyor of London’s iconic purple shopping bag.
That being said, over the next month keep your eye out for my selection from the best of Regent Street. I hope you enjoy it and happy shopping!
