The largest lights installation in the capital, ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ has returned for 2017, reimagined with new colours and additional touches to delight visitors and shoppers alike.
Inspired by our rich festive heritage, the installation harks back to first ever Central London Christmas lights display in 1954 right here on Regent Street.
The stunning showcase of over 300,000 twinkling LED lights lit up the whole of W1, making this the biggest and most spectacular parade of Christmas lights in the capital.
Our annual switch-on event on Thursday 16th November, from 5.30PM onwards, marked the start of this wonderful time of year on Regent Street.
The event was hosted by Heart London's very own Emma Bunton and included incredible performances by Paloma Faith, Clean Bandit, Michael Ball and Alfie Boe.
The street was closed from 4PM until 9PM for the thrilling live countdown, enabling visitors to soak up the festive atmosphere amongst Regent Street’s world-class shops and restaurants.
As the clock ticked to 6.15pm, Paloma was joined on stage by Emma Bunton, Clean Bandit, Michael Ball and Alfie Boe. At the push of a button, 300,000 LED lights came to life, officially marking the start of the holiday season.
