Regent Street was privileged to support ‘Fame, Fashion, Photography’ a free-entry, ticketed exhibition in honour of David Bowie at 10 Heddon Street from 7th to 19th June.

Featuring previously unseen images from three iconic British photographers; Chalkie Davies, Tony McGee and Denis O’Regan, the exhibition brought together a unique picture of Bowie throughout his extraordinary life. Taken straight from the photographers’ archives, the collection included iconic shots captured on stage, in the studio and on tour.

Commissioned by Regent Street, this free exhibition took place on the very street where David Bowie was photographed for the cover of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars, released in June 1972. Today, this is marked by the original ‘Ziggy Stardust’ plaque.

A fitting tribute to an extraordinary gentleman, the gallery was curated by the V&A team behind the David Bowie Is exhibition and featured a handpicked selection of Bowie’s music by lifelong fan, Spandau Ballet’s Gary Kemp for spectators to enjoy whilst browsing the gallery.

Fans of the exhibition also had the opportunity to take a piece of it home, with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK. Visitors could choose from limited edition, hand-numbered David Bowie: Fame, Fashion, Photography catalogues, or else join the silent online auction where selected framed images signed by the photographers were sold on 19th June via Cancer Research UK.

What’s more, the Regent Street app, hosted the world’s first immersive in-app gallery experience, displaying the entire collection of photographs accompanied with audio by each of the photographers, telling the stories behind these unique portraits. Opening up this unique London pop-up exhibition to the world, as well as providing an added experience to visitors of the gallery.

Fame, Fashion, Photography was a must-see show for both David Bowie fans and for anyone who appreciates the very best of modern British rock photography.
