Be inspired at workshops by Apple and Microsoft

8th March marks International Women’s Day and our tech-brands on Regent Street will be celebrating and empowering women throughout the entire month. For events designed to champion the female innovators of today, and to help educate and teach women of the future, keep reading to see how you can join.

Apple’s She Creates Series

Inviting you to learn from inspiring female creators, this Apple series is an opportunity to share ideas and explore new perspectives in hands-on sessions from 1st – 31st March. Key dates for your diary include:

3rd March 2020: Art Lab: Pictures of Positivity with Nikki Miles, 6.30 – 8.00pm

Illustrator Nikki Miles will be hosting a session on the importance of positivity in artwork. After hearing why this narrative is key to her work, you’ll have the chance to create your own piece of affirmative art.

10th March 2020: Design Lab: Artwork in Action with Sophie Walker, 6.00 – 7.30pm

CEO of Young Women’s Trust and author of ‘Five Rules for Rebellion’, Sophie Walker will be speaking about activism and how it can shape the everyday. You will also get hands-on with the Procreate app on iPad to create a social media–ready representation of the Young Women’s Trust slogan, Trust in Women.

12th March 2020: [AR]T Lab: AR Experiences Co-created with Sarah Rothberg, 1.15 – 2.45pm

Join a coding lesson to discover how to create augmented reality, hosted by artist Sarah Rothberg. A creative coding exercise, this is tailored for beginners aged 12 and older.

Microsoft’s International Women’s Day Series

For girls aged 6 and older, Microsoft’s event series is aimed at supporting and nurturing young talent.

On the 8th, 14th, 21st and 28th March the Microsoft store will be hosting an hour-long coding class entitled “Barbie: You Can Be Anything”. Attendees will have the chance to learn basic block coding concepts in a fun session built around Barbie and her friends who are robotic engineers, astronauts and more.

As part of the session, inspiring female leaders from across industries will also be sharing their knowledge and journeys to success via livestream to inspire these young minds.
