As part of our celebration of all things 'drinking and dining' on Regent Street, we round up the very best bars on offer, whether you're looking for an after-work tipple or the latest cocktail hotspot.
Artesian 1C Portland Place
Voted ‘World’s Best Bar’ for four consecutive years by Drinks International, Artesian is a must-visit for cocktail connoisseurs. At the forefront of innovation in mixology, Artesian is passionate about pushing boundaries and as such offers a unique array of cocktails that you won’t find anywhere else in London. Alongside its classics, is a ‘Surrealism’ menu designed to subvert your perception of the traditional ‘serve’. We’re coveting the ‘DREAMQUEST’ - a delectable blend of cashew, caramel, dulse, verjus and tonka.
ICEBAR LONDON 32-33 Heddon Street
Welcome to the UK’s only permanent bar made entirely of ice (everything from the walls and tables right down to the drinking glasses). Don a thermal, silvery cape and head down to sub-zero temperatures to enjoy an array of vibrant themed cocktails: our current favourite is ‘Ace of Spades’ a heady blend of Four Roses Bourbon, pink grapefruit liqueur, passion fruit juice, apple purée and a dash of lemon juice. Utterly moreish. Click here for bookings.
aqua spirit // aqua nueva 5th Floor, 240 Regent Street
Stylish and sophisticated, if you're looking for something a little bit special, aqua spirit is the place. Boasting open-air rooftop views, Japanese inspired fusion cocktails (alongside a menu of classics) and plenty of champagne, it's seriously glamorous. Meanwhile aqua nueva offers a spectacular array of Spanish-inspired cocktails such as the gorgeous ‘Flotante’ a heady mix of rum, pineapple, passionfruit and Visciolata del Cardinale, topped off with lime.
Strawberry Moons 15 Heddon Street
Simply the destination for a good time, Strawberry Moons boasts a vast menu of classic cocktails, a light-up dance floor and cheesy disco pop every day of the week. If you’re looking for somewhere to drink a delicious Mojito and dance the night away to your favourite pop hits, this is the place for you.
Cicchetti Bar 21 Heddon Street
An elegant bar hidden beneath Piccolino, Cicchetti serves lighter dishes of Venetian tapas and celebrates the ‘aperitivo’ hours with an extensive bar menu of cocktails, spirits and fragrant wines. Alongside the usual classics with an Italian twist are some new creations, including our favourite ‘The Blueberries and The Bees’ - a summer medley of blueberries, strawberries, mint and Abelha Organic Silver Cachaca, topped off with San Pellegrino Limonata. Divine.
tibits 12-14 Heddon Street
Much loved for its delicious, homemade vegetarian cuisine, tibits also boasts a lively bar in the evening serving wines, spirits and a handpicked selection of cocktails as well as its popular hand-blended smoothies. Relaxed and friendly, it’s great for after work drinks.
Black Dice 25 Heddon Street
Underneath Momo is Black Dice, a lively bar and night-spot with DJs at weekends. The bar is open from 8-10.30pm for the public, before it becomes exclusive for members only. Just enough time to enjoy one of its delicious signature cocktails, like the smokey 'Oaxaca Old Fashioned', a blend of Don Julio Reposado tequila, La Vida Mezcal, Agave Nectar and Angostura bitters topped with Veuve Clicquot champagne. Not for the faint hearted!
The Cuckoo Club Swallow Street
Home to some of Europe’s most talented mixologists and an enviable, eclectic music scene, The Cuckoo Club delivers unbridled glamour for London’s party cavalry. A members-club usually, book ahead to enjoy some of its impressive live DJ nights.
MASH 77 Brewer Street
Renowned for its incredible steaks, MASH also has a great bar with roomy leather booths for socialising with friends. Its new cocktail menu launched in June and is inspired by the Prohibition era, so you can expect American Whiskey, Absinthe, Rum and of course Tequila. Our favourite is the Mash Margarita, but the Five Dollar Shakes (alcohol-free) are equally tempting.
The Green Bar, Hotel Café Royal 68 Regent Street
Inspired by the Hotel Café Royal Cocktail Book from the 30s, The Green Bar is best known for its beautiful signature collection of Botanicals & Tonics. Whilst we sip on one of the best G&Ts we’ve ever tried, the brave-hearted amongst you might want to try the iconic Absinthe experience - a nod to bohemian intellectuals who notoriously favoured the tipple and frequented Hotel Café Royal throughout its history. Find out more here.
Bar Américain, Brasserie Zédel 20 Sherwood Street
In the basement of much-loved restaurant Brasserie Zédel, is a classic American bar featuring a stunning Art-Deco design that oozes glamour. Offering a succinct list of classic cocktails and what is thought to be the best selection of American whiskey in the UK, it’s a sophisticated, crowd-pleaser that’s great for a night out with friends.
Heddon Street Kitchen 3-9 Heddon Street
Pull up a seat at Gordon Ramsay’s Heddon Street Kitchen and choose from a generous selection of cocktails from the light and refreshing Lady Regent to the Hed(d)onistic St. Grog cocktail. From a post-shop nibble to an after work tipple, Heddon Street Kitchen is a must-visit.
