Holly Willoughby switches on the ‘Spirit of Christmas’ lights presented by Regent Street

With live performances from Rebecca Ferguson and Tom Odell, and appearances from Emma Bunton and Jamie Theakston

Regent Street was delighted to present ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ on Thursday 17th November, when TV Presenter Holly Willoughby switched on the stunning festive lights display, inspired by the very first Central London lights scheme in 1954.

The popular event saw appearances from Heart Breakfast presenters Jamie Theakston and Emma Bunton, who led the star-studded show from 6pm, which included live performances by music stars Tom Odell and Rebecca Ferguson.

Beginning an evening of seasonal festivity, Rebecca Ferguson opened the show with her classic performance style, before Tom Odell took to the stage to perform a selection of his hits.

Holly Willoughby then pushed the switch at 6.50pm, officially marking the beginning of the festive season and welcoming the ‘Spirit of Christmas’ to Regent Street.

The ‘Spirit of Christmas’ scheme is a sculptural masterpiece, a dramatic and modern reimagining of the first Christmas lights on Regent Street, featuring a fleet of impressively large-scale Spirits that soar along the length of the street and reference contemporary art, culture and British design.
