Presenting the Best of Summer Streets - July 2016

July 2016 saw the glorious return of our Regent Street ‘Summer Streets’ for the fourth year. Every Sunday from 3rd – 24th July, we became a traffic free street, and under blue summery skies visitors enjoyed an exciting programme of games, talks, pop-ups, shows and offers from our world class partners, shops, restaurants and bars.

Each Sunday we invited a selection of London’s most influential digital gurus to capture their experience of the day, as well as creating our very own limited edition Snapchat filters for all visitors to use during their Summer Streets visit.

See below for our gallery of highlights from Summer Streets:

Sunday 3rd July: Transported By Design Festival, supported by Exterion Media

Kicking off the first of our Summer Streets weekends, we partnered with Transport for London to create an extraordinary showcase of transport design through the ages. Visitors were taken on a journey through past, present and future designs of buses, tubes and even a horse and carriage, with on-street displays stretching from Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus. There were pop-ups, interactive talks, virtual reality games, immersive shows and exhibitions, all showcasing how good design makes life in London better.

Sunday 10th July: Health and Lifestyle

Early birds flocked to Regent Street to cheer on competitors as they ran along our famous street curve in the British 10k London Run. Next followed a day of fitness related fun, as shoppers watched top hockey teams play on pop-up pitches, challenged each other to games of table tennis at Tommy Hilfiger, and tested their endurance thanks to bootcamp classes by The North Face. After all the excitement, guests wound down to the beautiful sound of the French Garden Opera, who performed live on the traffic-free street.

Sunday 17th July - Garden Party

A day of relaxation on Regent Street: our retailers and restaurants came together to host the ultimate urban Garden Party. A bandstand on a gorgeous green lawn filled the street with quintessentially British music, while guests rested their feet in Tommy Hilfiger deck chairs. Liberty spilled out onto Marlborough Street, delighting guests with dream-catcher workshops, hair braiding stations and tea-leaf reading. Families also had their fun, with a tea-party from The Secret Garden pop-up and a teddy bears' brunch at Heddon Street Kitchen, in partnership with Hamleys.

Highlights included three live catwalks, showcasing some of the latest looks from our fashion stores, as well as a 16 station ice cream dipping bar where sweet-toothed shoppers queued to make their very own indulgent magnum. A live DJ and dance performances, from flamenco to streetdance, kept shoppers entertained throughout the day.
