Whether you like yours pure and simple, or loaded with tasty treats, we round up the best places on Regent Street to find the perfect pancake for you.
The Indulgent One
Heddon Street Kitchen never disappoints, but its trio of decadent pancakes may have excelled even Mr Ramsay himself.
Take your pick of the show-stopping Grand Marnier crêpes (flambéed at the table) served with crème fraiche ice cream, heavenly white chocolate and raspberry pancakes, or our favourite – the divine chocolate and caramel pancakes served with a generous scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. All totally instagramable and terribly moreish.
And seeing as decadence is the order of the day, you may as well spoil yourself with one of its two limited edition hard shakes too. Ask your waiter for more details.
The One[s] to Share
Given its reputation for simple, quality British fare, it’s no surprise Thomas’s at Burberry is serving up four firm favourites this Pancake Day. We can’t get enough of its artisan cheese and ham, or soft grilled vegetables with cheese and caramelised onions (both £8). For afters, choose from the classic sugar and lemon (£6) or fresh chopped banana with chopped hazelnuts and a drizzle of dark chocolate sauce.
The French One
Over at The Langham London, spoil all your senses with its Grand Marnier ‘crêpe soufflé’. Available as part of the ‘du jour’ menu and also a ‘special’ for 28th February only, this airy light crêpe is served with a heady orange blossom ice-cream, for just £10.00.
The Traditional One
Exclusively from Thursday 23rd – Tuesday 27th February, Aubaine is serving up traditional buttermilk pancakes with seasonal berries smothered in sticky maple syrup.
The Vegan One
Heddon Street’s resident vegan-friendly restaurant, tibits will be serving homemade pancakes all day on 28th February, served with your pick of toppings from fruit to syrups.
The Savoury One
For those who prefer savoury to sweet, Hotel Café Royal is serving up two decadent options at its Ten Room restaurant as well as in The Café. Choose from the rich lobster filling with truffle and spinach, or the smoked aubergine with sweet tomato and red onion, from £12.
Room for dessert? Try its elegant vanilla crêpe with salted caramel ganache and sweet vanilla ice cream. Deliciously light, fragrant and full of flavour, for just £7.
The Fancy One
Another savoury option, Bentley’s Oyster Bar will be serving a special of luxury lobster pancakes on 28th February only. At £19.50 per person it promises to be a feast for all the senses.
