Summer Streets Returns to Regent Street in 2019

Regent Street welcomes the return of its annual traffic-free Summer Streets event for the seventh consecutive year

To celebrate the summer season, this year Regent Street will once again be pedestrianized the length of the street from Oxford Circus station down to Piccadilly Circus station on set Sundays in July, August and September. Including a range of activities, entertainment and food and drink offerings instead of the usual traffic, Regent Street is the perfect place to while away your summer days.

Taking place on Sunday the 14th July, 21st July, 18th August and 15th September, the Regent Street Summer Streets series are created to encourage visitors to enjoy the festival-style atmosphere in the heart of London, along one of the most iconic streets in the city.

Whether local to London or visiting from afar, Summer Streets promises to offer something for everyone. Retailers, restaurants and businesses all are preparing to come together to offer the public a special series of Sundays to remember. There is so much to see and do on the street, including: 

  • Fashion Speaker Series: listen to fashion industry stalwarts discuss sustainability in fashion. Models Felicity Hayward, Kelly Knox will be considering Inclusivity in Fashion with artist Annaliese Dayes, Style & Sustainability debated by The Guardian’s Acting Fashion Editor Scarlett Conlon and guests Frankie Graddon, Fashion Consultant and Oliver Wayman, Co-Founder of Bottletop; whilst Men's Style will be debated by designer Charlie Casely-Hayford and sartorial expert Jim Chapman - 15th September only 
  • Regent Street Stylists: complimentary style consultations will be offered with celebrity stylist Holly White, menswear stylist Tom Stubbs and magazine stylist Chloe Forde to help you find your perfect AW19 look - 15th September only
  • British Fashion Council’s City Wide Celebration created as a nod to London Fashion Week. Brands that call Regent Street home will be hosting exclusive activities on its final Summer Streets Sunday to pay homage to style: Mulberry will be hosting leather bracelet workshops using offcuts from their new Iris Bag,; Cos will be hosting a patterned installation centred around their creative process; kate spade new york will be home to sips and snacks, as well as a monogramming service for any handbag purchases; Michael Kors will be offering free hand-painted monogramming for the Bedford Travel Bags and Microsoft will be hosting key talks from tutors and alumni from the London College of Fashion. For fashion-conscious foodies, Thomas’s at Burberry will be hosting a London Fashion Week-inspired breakfast with an array of tapas-style dishes to enjoy; Aspinal of London will be serving complimentary Nyetimber; and Gaucho will be serving a complimentary Mile of Style Cocktail for those dining on the à la carte menu - 15th September only
  • Interested in the history of style? Discover the Museum of London’s exhibit exploring Regent Street’s style offering from decades past: with images of 20th century clothing sold at iconic Regent Street department store Swan & Edgar, as well as details on Edwardian designs that were popular for Lewis & Allenby’s dresses  - 15th September only
  • Regent Street Food Waste Pledge Demonstration: Foodie influencer and author Melissa Hemsley will be hosting a food waste friendly recipe demonstration and talk with Regent Street restaurants Hawksmoor and Frescobaldi. Learn how to create a food-waste-friendly dish at home - 18th August only, 2 & 5pm
  • Upcycling workshops: repair artists Molly Martins and Fabrications will be showcasing ways to upcycle your clothing: bring any pieces that need mending and learn how to fix them - 18th August only
  • Museum of London: Learn more about Regent Street’s history on 14th July with the Museum of London. With horses being a highlight of the Museum of London’s new Beasts of London experience, the museum will present a range of activities highlighting how influential these animal have been to the capital. In fact, Regent Street was initially built to accommodate the horse and carriage, the main transportation at the time. Discover more about London’s horsey history through family-friendly craft activities and get up close with some of the objects from the museum’s collection.
  • Asics: Discover a host of sporting themed activities, from an energetic tennis competition (14th July), a 10k run (21st July), an inspiring insight into accessibility in sport (18th August) and a showcase of sports style and Japanese heritage (15th September)
