Our favourite Easter eggs of 2022

Our Easter egg guide is choc-full of delicious options

With Easter weekend fast approaching, we put our eggs-pert opinion the test to find the best Easter treats across Regent Street and St James’s. Whether you’re shopping for yourself, someone special, or planning the cherished annual Easter egg hunt, we’ve got the Easter egg for you.

Sweetest chocolate Easter bunny

If you’re looking for sustainibble chocolate treats this Easter, start at Läderach - a short hop from Oxford Street Tube station. Ready for Easter weekend, this celebrated Swiss chocolatier has fashioned two adorable chocolate creations. Take home Easter bunny Lou or Cleo in an assortment of flavours including the usual white, milk and dark chocolate, as well as raspberry and caramel designs.

The Hand-Painted Bunny Easter Egg from Fortnum & Mason also jumps straight to the top of our list as a truly memorable Easter gift.

Best large Easter egg

The opulent Ostrich Eggs at Hotel Chocolat may be the biggest we’ve seen. It’s not just the pure size of them – the thicker than average shell and hidden chocolates will satisfy even the strongest sweet tooth. For the ultimate Easter treat, we recommend the Patisserie egg, filled with a tiny chocolate macaron, carrot cake truffle, and other classic dessert-inspired chocolates.

Our favourite children’s Easter eggs

These Peter Rabbit white chocolate truffles from Charbonnel et Walker at Liberty will have little ones telling tails about their favourite Easter present for weeks to come. Animal lover in the family? Match a treasured family pet with Läderach’s spotted stracciatella Easter bunny or celebrate the season together by cracking open Fortnum’s golden egg to discover the spring surprise inside.

Fill your basket with these sweet choices

Inspired by real bird’s eggs, it’ll be a scramble to find these lifelike Speckled Eggs from Hotel Chocolat or Salted Caramel Seagull Eggs from Liberty in the garden this year. Or add a pop of colour with Fortnum & Mason’s foil-covered mini eggs – happy hunting.

Unusual Easter chocolate gifts

Hotel Chocolat has a sandwich meal deal we can get behind. Choose three of its decadent Easter sandwiches for £27.  Make ours the Lamb and Mint Chocolate Easter Sandwich. Another special Easter twist on a savoury snack that’s worth sampling is Fortnum’s praline scotch egg.

Or for an Easter egg that’s fit for a queen, visit Royal Warrant Holders, Prestat in Princes Arcade. Its lemon egg filled with London gin and lemon truffles makes a fresh choice this spring.

Top vegan Easter treats

We’re obsessed with the marvellously minty dark chocolate egg from Hotel Chocolat. If you prefer fruity flavours, why not try an oat milk chocolate orange egg? Or for a gift that brings joy even after they’ve scoffed every last morsel, we recommend Booja-Booja’s vegan salted caramel truffles at Liberty which come housed in a beautiful hand-painted egg.

Alternative Easter Egg gifts

If chocolate’s not their thing, this sweet spotted egg cup from Anthropologie or Little Box of Sunshine from cheesemongers Paxton and Whitfield would make an egg-ceptionally thoughtful gift.
