Vibrant Lobster Salad at Frescobaldi London
Vibrant Lobster Salad at Frescobaldi London

With the sun shining and summer on the horizon, we round up the best of al fresco dining on and around Regent Street.

Frescobaldi London, 15 New Burlington Place

Fine dining meets laid-back lounging in this beautiful hidden restaurant nestled in New Burlington Place, complete with a spacious (heated) open terrace. They offer a tempting menu of authentic Italian dishes served from Head Chef Roberto Reatini and an impressive wine list. We recommend the delicious ‘lobster salad with saffron' or the 'crab bruschetta with chilli and asparagus’ - both new additions to the seasonal à la Carte menu.
Heddon Street Kitchen, 3-9 Heddon Street

This firm favourite on Heddon Street serves up gourmet dishes with flair, all from the repertoire of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Whether you are after a quick bite or a leisurely dinner, the leafy terrace is a sun trap and a great spot for some people watching. We recommend taking advantage of the excellent-priced, delicious set menu available from midday till 6.30pm.

Momo, 25 Heddon Street

If the British weather has let you down then you can transport yourself to the sunnier climes of Northern Africa by visting the secluded terrace at Momo. Hidden amongst exotic plants and scattered rich tapestry cushions, sip on one of their signature cocktails, such as the lethal 'Black Banshee', a blend of Tanqueray gin, elderflower and fresh blackberries. They offer a superb selection of hot and cold mezze that will ensure you are not disappointed.

tibits, 12 Heddon Street

A Heddon Street highlight, tibits outdoor seating is back for the summer season. This vegetarian and vegan restaurant is the perfect spot if you're looking for something a little lighter. We're coveting the avocado and tomato bocconcino and irresistible chia-coconut pudding.

aqua kyoto, 5th Floor, 240 Regent Street

Boasting stunning views of Regent Street, aqua kyoto is a must visit for new visitors and Londoners alike. The open kitchen continues to delight diners, as does the array of fragrant, innovative dishes on the menu. Aim to snap up a table at sunset and enjoy watching the bustling streets below.

Brasserie Zédel, 20 Sherwood Street, W1F 7ED

Popular with locals and tourists alike, this Parisian brasserie boasts a varied, reasonably priced menu of delicious French favourites. Our go-to dish is the succulent Entrecôte ‘Café de Paris’ which can only be made more enjoyable with a glass of Merlot whilst watching the world go by.

Ergon, 322 Regent Street, W1B 3BH

Ergon serves up a mouthwatering selection of classic Greek fare from 7am until 7pm. It is an ideal spot for breakfast, lunch or pre-theatre dining. This Regent Street favourite offers light and fresh dishes, such as the tomato salad with samphire and fava puree with grilled octopus. Hurry though, the outdoor seating is limited.

Magpie, 10 Heddon Street, W1B 4BX

Magpie serves modern British fare with a monthly changing menu and a delicious array of lighter bar snacks. With a selection of seats looking out over Heddon Street, Magpie is the perfect spot for an end-of-day dinner thanks to it boasting one of the largest arrays of wines on tap in the city. For a celebration, we recommend sitting in the sun with a glass chosen from the little black book of fine wines.

Tank & Paddle, 15 Heddon Street, W1B 4BF

Tank + Paddle is a place to have fun, due to an extensive choice of draught and craft beers alongside indulgent dishes. Having moved beyond their East London roots, visitors can visit 7 days a week to enjoy the daily array of stonebaked pizzas and beer combinations, alongside casual outdoor seating. Play a boardgame with friends or get competitve over the 12 foot shuffleboard. There are even eating challenges if you're feeling really hungry!

Sakagura, 8 Heddon Street, W1B 4BS

Sakagura is a favourite dining destination for those seeking an authentic washoku experience. Stay cool and dine outdoors on one of their small selection of tables which has a distinctly Japanese feel.  Offering a vibrant choice of traditional Japanese dishes, there is also a sake cellar with rare bottles to choose from.
