Simple steps to sleep better at night

Sleep soundly with these eight tips.

In need of a good night’s sleep? Regent Street has plenty of ideas to get you ready for bed, from cosy nightwear and sumptuous bath products to spa days or workouts, we’ve got everything you need to create the perfect conditions for body and mind to rest.

1. REFRESH YOUR NIGHT-TIME WARDROBE

Make an impression with All Saints’ stylish silk-blend pyjamas or Anthropologie’s flowing pyjamas and sleep dresses. Or browse H&M’s wide selection of nightwear to suit all budgets, from satin pyjamas and waffle dressing gowns to printed cartoon designs. As with its slippers, UGG’s dressing gowns and pyjamas are sure to keep you warm and cosy.

2. WORK UP A SWEAT

The key to a good night’s sleep is to get moving during the day. Sign up to one of Gymshark’s exercise classes at its flagship store at 165 Regent Street – there are more than 30 classes to book each week, from yoga and strengthening, to HIIT. Or work your way through Psycle’s five different workouts, from Barre to hill sprints.

3. RUN A BATH

Unwind as soon as you step into a bath full of relaxing and rejuvenating salts, or work in some sensuous bath oils. Browse Liberty for products such as the Herbal Whey Bath from Susan Kaufmann made from linden flowers and camomile, or Antidote Night Oil from Votary, which fuses lavender and camomile. Alternatively, take your pick from Molton Brown’s bath range, including Cypress and Sea Fennel bath salts.

4. GIVE YOUR SKIN A BOOST

Let your skin become replenished while you snooze with Body Shop’s “Sleep” range – including body cream, pillow mist and massage oil. Innovation by Space NK’s concept store at 285-287 Regent Street also has a vast range of night creams to restore and renew, while Aesop’s vitamin-enriched Sublime Replenishing Night Masque hydrates your skin to leave it soft and supple.

5. RELAX BY CANDLELIGHT

Whether soaking in a bath or snuggling up in bed, create a calming atmosphere with some scented candles. Jo Malone’s flagship store has plenty of choice – try Glowing Embers to evoke the waft of a soporific log fire, or Lilac Lavender and Lovage for a relaxed mood. You can also pick up a Relaxing Candle from L’Occitane, which transports the heady scents of lavender, bergamot, sweet orange, mandarin and geranium from Provence to your home.

6. UPGRADE YOUR BEDDING

Worn out sheets, itchy polyester duvet cover…? It’s time to upgrade your bedding. For something eye-catching, invest in a Liberty-print duvet set, quilt or throw from Liberty. Or cosy up under a throw blanket or duvet from Anthropologie, which come in every print imaginable.

7. INDULGE IN A RELAXING SPA DAY

Set up for a relaxing night by booking into Chuan Body + Soul Spa at The Langham for a range of treatments – its massages, scrubs and facials are based on the Five Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Or head to Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre at Hotel Café Royal, where packages include a 90-minute Relax and Balance Ayurveda treatment, or the Celebration for Two with access to a private suite with a relaxing aromatic double bath.

8. ENJOY A COMFORTING CUPPA

Gently nod off to sleep having sipped on some camomile tea from one of Regent Street’s many tea specialists. The East India Company infuses camomile with rose buds for a fragrant blend, while Whittard of Chelsea mixes the sleep-inducing plant with spiced apple for a comforting hug. If a mug of cocoa is more your thing, Whittard of Chelsea and Hotel Chocolat have plenty of options and flavours, from black forest gateau to ginger.

Once you’ve woken from a good night’s sleep, why not enjoy a leisurely start to the day with one of these tasty brunch options. You can also find more ways to stay relaxed and healthy, including the neighbourhood’s best juice bars, or discover more wellbeing goals.
