If there’s one thing we know for certain about the British summer, it’s that absolutely nothing is certain when it comes to the weather! Here’s how to get the very best out of the season in the capital city, come rain or shine.

Bask in the Sunshine

  • 360-degree views of London on a sunny day? Say no more. The Nest at the Treehouse Hotel is the rooftop of dreams, with an indoor lounge area and a wraparound terrace outdoors to soak up the sun. Add in an impressive cocktail menu and a selection of guest DJs and you’ve found your new favourite spot.

  • Into your tennis? Head over to nearby St James’s where Wimbledon matches are being shown on the big screen in St James’s Market. Expect deck chairs, drinks and suitably seasonal strawberries and cream.

  • Entertaining the little ones over the summer suddenly became extra exciting when we heard about the Hamleys open top sightseeing bus. The 90-minute tour around London covers all the iconic landmarks, including onboard entertainment and storytelling to bring London’s history to life.

Find a Spot of Shade

  • A warm day calls for a cold coffee, and Hagen’s speciality Danish blends are our brew of choice. Head over to Swallow Street’s shaded enclave and pick up an iced coffee or matcha to enjoy under the cafe’s outdoor canopy.

  • If you haven’t yet met Brityard, summer is the time to get to know it. Housing a selection of homegrown British businesses and creatives, you’ll find everything from ice cream to flower bouquets all under one roof. Wander around, pick out a seasonal treat and stay put for a while before venturing back out into the sunshine.

  • For a taste of culture, escape the heat at RHODES Contemporary Art on Great Portland Street and take a look at works from the latest emerging contemporary artists. With a programme of upcoming exhibitions, you’ll be treated to a selection of fine art whenever you decide to stop by.

Rainy Day Plans

  • Wet weather + a cosy picturehouse = a match made in heaven. When rain stops play, Regent Street Cinema is our go-to. As well as showing everything from the latest releases to the big screen classics, the cinema also hosts special events like Q&As and live podcast recordings. See what’s on this summer here

  • It’s the summer of sport, and while the FIFA World Cup 2026 is on, The George is our place to be. As North America’s warmer summer climes play host to the tournament, we’ll be quite happy cosying up in one of London’s most historic pubs with a pint as we cheer on the Three Lions.

  • If all else fails, grab yourself a chocolatey treat from Läderach to lighten the mood. You deserve it.

Beat the Heat

  • When things get toasty, sometimes all you need is a therapeutic dip in the pool and a chance to slow down for a while. On those days, Akasha Spa - and its impressive list of wellness treatments - comes top of our list.

  • In the same vein, Another of our favourite ways to escape the heat (or perhaps channel it) is an Infrared Mat Pilates class at Aligné Studio at the upper end of Regent Street. Here, gentle warmth is the perfect ingredient for strength and flexibility. If you can’t beat the heat… use it to your advantage!

  • Sometimes all you need is air-con, and if that means you end up browsing Regent Street’s famous shops to find it, then that’s just how it will have to be! Treat yourself to a summer style staple at the all-new Max & Co store - we think you’ll love what’s on offer.
